Jandi

Hi! I’m Jandi. I am one of SSM’s local hosts and managers.

After winning the 1992 and 1993 Stanleytown Elementary School Science Fairs, I went on to march bari sax in the nationally ranked Bassett High School Marching Band and to earn a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Design and a Bachelor of Science in English from James Madison University. I left Virginia for Denali National Park, Alaska where I worked in restaurants and then in resort Human Resources before finding my way back to Virginia for several more years working in restaurants, libraries, retail, and substitute teaching. I earned a teaching license and spent two years teaching high school English and trying to supervise the yearbook staff, while playing roller derby and training karate on the weekends.

When moving to Jacksonville in 2012, I returned to working in restaurants, began experimenting with baking gourmet cupcakes, adopted my best friend rescue pit bull, George. I never expected when Eric became my landlord in 2017, that four years later I would return to my hospitality roots with a company that didn’t then exist. Initially hired for emergency maintenance, I now handle whatever is asked of me while maintaining an encyclopedic knowledge of Ikea couches.

In my free time, I’m working toward a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I also rock climb, hang out with George, collect sunglasses, travel the country to feed dual obsessions with Pearl Jam (I saw them in Seattle) and Shayne Smith comedy, and I’m completing my first novel.
